Sarasota

It is required for Chris to do a certain number of CME's (Continuing Medical Education) each year.  Thankfully, we can pick awesome places in which Chris can sit in a classroom...and Kaleb and I can play. Thank you Chris for your sacrifice.

Sarasota is fun because Chris is only in class until noon and then we can spend the rest of the afternoon at the beach.  Not to mention, Sarasota is home to one of the top rated beaches in the United States...Siesta Key.  This was our second time to Siesta Key...and it won't be our last.
The drive to Sarasota was not bad from South Carolina, but it was a little longer from Western KY.  12.5 hours to be exact.  When you equate a little one's small bladder and need to run around...that took us all of 17.5 hours.
We rented a home minutes from Siesta Key beach, but across the street from Shell Beach.  This beach is not even labeled from the street, which meant that not only could we walk to it, it was unpopulated.  We spent a decent amount of time here.

Our house was stocked with many beach toys.  This particular shovel was Kaleb's favorite.  He carried it everywhere.

It's a really sad day when Mommy and Daddy cut you off from Cheese Puffs.
 Sunset from Shell beach.
An Egret fishing close to our feet and begging for a snack.
Sadly, we did not have a snack for this Egret.
Kaleb and I even had a modeling session.  Cutie-Patootie.

One day we visited the Sarasota Yacht club.  Kaleb could not understand why I would not let him on one of those boats.  Actually, he was darn right mad when it was all said and done.

 Yep, mad.

The night ended well though because Mr. Diva had some ice cream.
 Dinner with the hubs.
Another night, we met Dick Vitale.  I was pretty pumped.
Instead of taking Kaleb on a yacht, we took him on a nature boat ride on a pontoon.  Sure, it was not a luxurious yacht-ride, but we got to throw a net in the bay and see a bunch of cool critters.  (of course all critters were thrown back in).
 And, some dolphins!
Our boat ride included a nature walk on a uninhabited island.  Too cool.  I giggled to myself as a sailing team also used this island as a place to take a break.
We also visited bird island which is a protected island for birds.  It was too cool to look at the birds hanging out on this island.

And, with that...we say, adios Sarasota, we can't wait to come back again!
